Debra ‘Debbie’ Smith, 63, of Centralia, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023.www.sutherlandfuneralhome.com or the Funeral Home’s Facebook page.
Debbie was born November 2, 1959, in Tamaroa, IL, the daughter of Jim Skurat and Rosemary (Whipple) Skurat. Debbie is survived by her son, U.S. Marine Ronnie Laughhunn of St. Robert, MO and fiance Cathi Eich of Reutlingen, Germany; daughter Angie Alton and special friend Blake of Centralia; brothers Louie Skurat and Laura of Tamaroa, Chester Skurat and fiancee Krystal Marcum of Centralia; sisters Brenda Skurat of Irvington, Jerrie Rohrscheib and Jimmy of Arkansas; grandchildren Robert Ray, Tanner Alton, Rory Alton; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Jim Skurat and Rosemary Skurat; brother William Skurat; and granddaughter Candice Ray. Debbie was a carefree spirit, who enjoyed life with her son Ronnie and her daughter Angie. She enjoyed spending time with her doggie outlaw. She enjoyed visiting the winery with her daughter. She enjoyed many good laughs with her son and cooking together. She enjoyed walking and enjoyed the sights of nature. She loved all her grandkids and enjoyed spending time with them. She was pure at heart and loved to meet new people and socialize with many different people. A visitation for Debra “Debbie” Smith will take place on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia from 9:00 to 10:00 am with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church with Monsignor David Darin officiating. In memory of Debra, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and can be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street, Centralia, IL 62801, which is honored to be of service to the Smith family.
