A 37-year-old Salem man has been charged with two counts of misdemeanor child endangerment after allegedly leaving two young children home alone. Salem Police say Neal Durham of East Boone was allegedly caring for a one and two years when he left them alone to go to the store. They were found by a Marion County Housing Authority Unit employee doing a check on the housing unit. Police later located Durham at the store where he was taken to the Marion County Jail and later released on a notice to appear in court.
35-year-old Ryan Harris of Thompsonville was returned by prisoner transport from Franklin County to the Marion County Jail on a Marion County failure to appear in court warrant on a pending felony theft case. Harris is being held in lieu of $20,000 bond.
51-year-old Tonya Kinder of South Perrine in Centralia was arrested by Centralia Police on an Effingham County felony warrant on a possession of methamphetamine conviction. Kinder is being held at the Marion County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
Centralia City Firemen were called to an oven fire at a Marion County Housing Authority Duplex in the 1000 block of Maulding Drive. The over apparently shorted out. The fuse was turned off and a large fan was used to remove smoke from the duplex. The call came in at 1:30 Thursday afternoon.
