A crowd estimated at over 1,000 turned out at the first ever Back to School Good News Festival held in Foundation Park on Saturday.

The event was sponsored and underwritten by the Ministry Outreach Foundation and the Crossroads Church in Centralia.

Pastor Ronnie Tabor was pleased with how the day went.   He now expects it to return next year.

“We started the day with 100 volunteers and over 1000 people have come in.  We have been giving away food, clothes and serving up hot dogs, snow cones, cotton candy, and popcorn.  The kids have been on bounce houses the entire time.  It has been incredible watching families of Centralia come out and just enjoy this beautiful weather and having a great time.  We are looking forward to doing this again next  year.”

A number of large giveaways were also held along with six pallets of food and clothing.   Student haircuts were also provided.
