2023 08/09 – Dena A. Hoffman

Dena A. Hoffmann, age 61 of Kinmundy, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Salem Township Hospital.

Dena was born on June 2, 1962, in Centralia the daughter of Otis and Betty (Schirr) Brown.  She married Bernard “Bernie” Hoffmann on November 26, 1992, in Kinmundy, and he survives in Kinmundy.

In addition to her husband of 30 years, she is survived by her mother, Betty Brown of Kinmundy; two sons, Heath Hoffmann and wife Kallie of Kinmundy and Gabe Hoffmann of Kinmundy; grandchildren, Paxton, Sutton, and Peyton; three siblings, Janet Oestreich of Kinmundy, Steve Brown and wife Hali of Kinmundy and Debbie Keen and husband Butch of Kinmundy; sister-in-law, Bev Laux; brother-in-law, Jeff Hoffmann and wife Ronda; and nieces and nephews, Harlee Brown, Haylie Brown, Briar Brown, Baylee Brown and Josh Brown, Misty Ford and husband Shannon, Michelle Hinton and husband Jesse, Sarah Laux,  Jennifer Hoffmann, Scott Hoffmann, Jody Tillotson, and Daniel Hoffmann; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Otis Brown; grandparents, Masel and Verna Brown, and Gerhard and Lena Schirr; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James L. and Julia Josephine Hoffmann; brothers-in-law, Randy Oestreich and Dave Laux; and sister-in-law, Laura Hoffmann.

Dena was a long-time member of Brown Christian Church.  She was a former Omega Township Clerk, had worked for the United States Post Office in Kinmundy as a clerk, and was a beautician for nearly 40 years, operating Dena’s Beauty Shop. She was currently serving on the South Central District #401 Board of Education, a position which she held for 18 years.  Dena enjoyed flowers, gardening, yard sales, flea markets, getting together with her 1980 classmates, and getting together with her family.

A Celebration of Life for Dena A. Hoffmann will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Brown Christian Church in Kinmundy.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem, and again on Wednesday, from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church.  Burial will be in Phillips Cemetery in Kinmundy.  Memorials can be made at Phillips Cemetery and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home.  Online condolences can be left at www.CrouseFH.com
