A 31-year-old homeless Centralia man has been formally charged in Marion County Court with burglary and theft. Stephen Bryant is accused of breaking into a trailer at a home construction site in the 2300 block of Meadow Lane just outside Centralia. He was also charged with a misdemeanor offense of theft for being in possession of a small speaker that had allegedly been taken from the construction site. The bond was set at $30,000. The public defender was appointed to represent Bryant.
A 43-year-old Salem man has been formally charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, felony disorderly conduct, and resisting or obstructing a police officer. Sean Dean of East Olive is accused of biting a Salem Police Officer in the leg after dropping to the ground to try and avoid being handcuffed. He is charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly making 911 calls that he knew were not an emergency. The resisting charge against Dean of pulling away. Bond for Dean was set at $7,000. The public defender was appointed to represent him.
