The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says they are happy to report that 26-year-old Shadie Thomas of Clay City has been located safe. The mentally challenged woman had been missing since leaving her home on May 5th.
Sheriff Andy Myers says during the last 48 hours the sheriff’s office was able to develop a new lead on the whereabouts of Shadie. Members of the sheriff’s office responded to the location and met with individuals at the residence. Those individuals were more than cooperative with the members of the sheriff’s office and assisted them in making contact with Shadie.
Myers says Shadie seemed happy and content to be at the location where contact was made. She was provided with contacts for additional resources to ensure her well-being moving forward. The sheriff’s office will continue to investigate the events surrounding this ongoing incident.
Myers says the sheriff’s department is extremely happy that Shadie has been located safe and sound. He notes the focus of the investigation has always been doing what is in Shadie’s best interest. Myers’ is commending Deputy Luke Durre for taking the lead on the investigation as well as his staff for staying focused on the facts and the evidence throughout the investigation.
