Another resident of Marion County dies from COVID-19 related cause

For the second week in a row, an elderly Marion County resident positive for COVID-19 has died.     Marion County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says the male in his 80s was not a long-term care resident, was vaccinated, and in the hospital at the time of his death.

Total deaths in Marion County related to COVID-19 have risen to 214 since the beginning of the pandemic.

There are currently four Marion County congregate care facilities in outbreak status.   One facility has 16 positives, another nine, a third seven positives and the fourth has four positives.

Other COVID-19 statistics for Marion and surrounding counties will be released early this afternoon by the Centers for Disease Control.   Marion County was elevated to the high category last Friday.   All other area counties are at the medium level, except Clinton which was at the low level.
