Seven members of the Salem Fire Protection District have completed a 40 hour vehicle machinery operations class with instruction provided by Illinois Fire Service Institute instructors.
The course provided instruction in advanced techniques used in auto extrication techniques, victim disentanglement, and patient care. The training included a mix of both classroom and hands-on practical training.
The course meets the requirements for certification through the Office of the State Fire Marshal as well as requirements for completion of Advanced Firefighter certification.
Those attending included Deputy Assistant Chief Greg Miller, Captain Bryan McIntosh, Lieutenants Seth Dawson, Ben Trinkle, and Trevor Chitwood, and firefighters Sarah Dice and Kenny Benzing.
Fire Marshal Bill Fulton says the members of the Salem Fire Protection District constantly strive to take advantage of training opportunities so they are prepared to better serve the citizens of the Fire District.
