The Marion County Health Department is reporting the county’s first COVID-19-related death since early March.

Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says she is saddened to announce the death of a female in her 80s who was a long-term care resident, was vaccinated and was in the hospital.

Marion County has now had 213 COVID-19-related deaths since the pandemic began.

Mallow has also announced five congregate care facilities in the county remain in outbreak status.  One facility has 16 positives, another 14, a third nine cases, with the other two having seven and four positive cases.

Marion, Jefferson, and Clay Counties are currently at the medium level for number of cases, while Wayne County is at high, and Clinton and Washington County are listed as low.   The infection levels are updated each Friday.
