Big crowd shows up for 4th of July activities in Salem

The 4th of July fireworks display in Salem went off without a hitch for what seemed like a bigger than normal crowd. Several of the displays brought applause and car honks of appreciation.

Despite the hot and humid weather, a concert at the Bryan Memorial Park Band Stage in the afternoon and early evening hours leading up to the fireworks also drew a crowd for the musicians and food trucks.

Salem Economic Development Director Tabitha Meador coordinated the event.

“Crowd has increased throughout the day so I’m happy to see this many people come out to see the music being sponsored out here along with the food vendors.  We’ve had a good crowd out here all day.”

Meador feels the third annual concert was a success.

John Spicer and Dave Widenhoffe entertain those at the pre-Fourth of July concert in Centralia.
