2023 06/30 – David Criley

David Criley, 85, of Centralia, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Cedarhurst in Breese.

He was born February 19, 1938, in Centralia, the son of William Criley and Winifred (Roper) Criley. He married Edith Miller on March 18, 1961, and she preceded him in death on February 6, 2021.

David is survived by his daughter: Sharilyn Muench and husband Todd of Hoffman; three step-grandchildren: Bobby Muench and wife Kasey of Anchorage, Alaska, Grace Muench of St. Louis, Missouri, and Johnathan Gagne and wife Mary of Leavenworth, Kansas; four step-great-grandchildren: Emma Muench, Beau Muench, Jameson Gagne, and Maura Gagne; sister-in-law: Marilyn Saddler; nephews: Ken Saddler and wife Sonia, Ron Criley and wife Betty, and Fred Ellis wife Anne; two nieces: Pat Criley and Carol Leo and husband Constanty; five great-nieces: Christonia Saddler, Shannon Smith, Kris Kimmick and husband Jamie; great-nephews: Shane Smith, Devon Criley and wife Laurie, Aaron Criley, Jeff Criley and wife Bonnie, and Brad Criley; great-great-nieces: Stephanie Smith, Ashley Criley, Abigail Criley, Lila Ellis; great-great nephews: Alex Ellis, Eli Criley, Wyatt Criley, Ethan Criley, Lucas Criley, Logan Kimmick and Austin Kimmick.

David was preceded in death by his parents: William and Winifred Criley, wife Edith Criley, infant brother William Criley; brothers: Robert and Bill Criley, sister Elaine Ellis and husband Fred, nephew Gary Criley; great niece Hallie Ellis; brother-in-law Raymond Saddler; and his four-legged companion Padgett;

David worked for Hollywood Brands Company for many years, until retirement. David spent many days outdoors, where he enjoyed mowing and doing work outside. He was of the Baptist faith. David and his wife Edith had a special place in their hearts for animals. He will be dearly missed by those that knew him.

Funeral Services for David Criley will be held Friday, June 30, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel in Centralia. Entombment will follow in the Hillcrest Lakeside Mausoleum. Visitation will be held Friday at the chapel from 12:00 PM until the time of service. David was an avid animal lover and, in his honor, memorial donations to be made to the Centralia Humane Society and the Clinton County Humane Society and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Criley Family.
