Freda Marie Shafer, age 84, passed away on June 26, 2023.
She was born at her childhood home in Wayne County, Illinois on May 20, 1939, and was the daughter of Jesse Roosevelt Lowery and Greta Grace (Minor) Lowery. She married William Ronald Shafer on January 5, 1958, at Lowery Church.
Freda attended Lowery Grade School and Webber Township High School. Freda was an active member of Donoho Prairie Christian Church and enjoyed being on the church fellowship committee as well as the quilting club. She was a devoted farm wife and dedicated to raising her two daughters Lisa Marie and Brenda Lee.
Survivors include her husband Ron Shafer; two daughters Brenda (Lonnie) Brent of Kirkwood, IL, and Lisa Gilchrist of Mt. Vernon, IL; one sister, Patsy Weems of Mt. Carmel, IL; six grandchildren, Amanda, Trey, Faith, Grace, Preston, and Logan; and one great-grandchild, Ella.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Noble Dean, Clinton, and Dale; four sisters, Wilma, Wava, Bernice, and Alma; and one grandson, Landon Michael Brent.
Services will be held at Donoho Prairie Christian Church on Thursday, June 29th. The visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., with a funeral immediately following, and burial at Donoho Prairie Cemetery.
