Richard Ray “Razor” Nattier, 71, of Patoka passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023, at St. Louis University Hospital. He was born on February 4, 1952, the son of Floyd and Almeda (Sherill) Nattier in Vandalia. He married Debi Dodson on November 25, 1972, in St. Lawrence Church in Sandoval and she survives him in Patoka.
Along with his devoted wife of 50 years, Debi Nattier survivors that will remember Ray as a protective family man include, his son, Mike Nattier of Patoka; his daughter, Kristy Nattier and fiancé Jeremy Hinkle of Mt. Vernon his grandchildren, Jessica Hodge and fiancé Eli Green, Jackson Hodge, Hannah Hall and husband Tyler, Travis Nattier and significant other Abby Davis, Stevi Wilkerson, and Haley Nattier; great-granddaughters, Erin Nattier, Nova Hall, and one on the way; sisters, Sherrill Harris and husband Ron, and Leta Coleman and husband Ken; sister-in-law, Dawn Reid and husband Bill; and many nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Mary Niepoetter; his granddaughter, Kailey Nicole Nattier; and his daughter-in-law, Shanelle Nattier.
Ray was a graduate of Patoka High School, Class of 1971. As a lifelong resident, he was proud to call Patoka his home and never ventured far from his little slice of heaven west of town. He always put in a full day of hard work on the farm. When not hard at work on the farm, Ray was a loyal employee of the Operator’s Local 520 for 45 years. He had a love of antique tractors, restoring them back to their original glory. He enjoyed hunting. Ray was an animal lover who gave extra attention to his beloved pets. He didn’t often stop to relax and looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren, loving them as only a Papa could. Ray will be remembered for his kind heart, friendly smile, and devotion to his family.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2023, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka. Interment will follow at Patoka City Cemetery. Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation time Wednesday, June 28, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home in Patoka. Memorials may be made in Ray’s honor to Patoka City Cemetery.
