Kevin Cripps of Iuka is the winner in the hotly contested Republican primary race for sheriff. Unofficial totals show Cripps with 3,473 votes and Ryan Castleman with 2,176 votes.
Cripps is thanking the voters for putting their trust in him and he’s super excited to move on to the November election where right now he has no opposition.
“Well, I’m just super excited that the voters have come out in support. I can’t thank a large group of people and the citizens of this county enough. I’ve had a campaign crew that has worked nonstop from the start of this thing to the end. I’m honored to have these guys as my friends, coworkers, and so forth. I’m also super glad that we ran a clean campaign with Ryan’s campaign and Ryan ran a clean campaign with our campaign. In the end, Ryan and I are going to be just fine.”
Cripps also says he cannot thank his family enough for sticking with him during the campaign.
Castleman has called Cripps to concede the election.
“I’m still going to serve the people of Marion County. I did fall short tonight. I called Kevin and congratulated him. He worked hard, and I trust the voting process of Marion County. The people had their say, and this is what they want.”
