2023 06/27 – Gary G. Webb

Gary G. Webb, 83, of Wayne City, Illinois, passed away at 6:15 pm June 24, 2023, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

He was born March 17, 1940, in Mount Vernon to the late James “Jim” and Lena (Cluck) Webb. Gary married Kathryn (Seidel) Webb on November 8, 1958. They celebrated nearly 65 years of marriage together.

In addition to his beloved wife, Gary is survived by his daughter, Kathy Garrison and husband, Jerry of Wayne City; son, Karl Webb and wife, Christina of Wayne City; grandchildren, Holli Collins and husband, Eric, Kadie Steiner and husband, Jonathan, Brandi Benson and husband, Ethan, Dallas Garrison and wife, Misty, Zachariah Webb and wife, Christy, Emilee Garrison, Michelle Nguyen, Chelsea Nguyen, Cody Nguyen, and Cory Nguyen; eleven great-grandchildren; siblings-in-law, Linda Webb, Betty Webb, Robert Seidel and wife, JoAnne, Richard Seidel, Paul Seidel and wife, Phyllis, and June Irvin; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his infant son, Gary Webb, Jr.; brothers, James Webb, Johnny Webb, Charles Webb, Donald Webb, Ricky Webb, and infant Robert Webb; sister, Betty Thomas; parents-in-law, Bert and Florence Seidel; and siblings-in-law, Kenneth Seidel, Mary White, and Evelyn Herreld.

Gary worked for General Radiator in Mount Vernon for several years and then later as a truck driver for J.B. Hunt Trucking. He was an avid Saint Louis Cardinal fan. Gary enjoyed his kitty cats and loved all of his family, especially his great-grandchildren. He may have had a rough exterior, but Gary had a kind, gentle heart. He was a devoted husband and took great care of his wife. Gary will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 11:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home with  Pastor Dennis Seidel officiating. Interment will follow at Farnsworth Cemetery in Wayne County, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Gary’s honor to Saint Lukes Center for Cancer Care. The family asks that those in attendance for the service dress casually, just as you would when coming over to visit Gary.
