A 48-year-old Centralia man has been sentenced to five years in prison after his probation was revoked for participation in the drug court program.

Billy Self had sentencing on a residential burglary charge placed on hold while he participated in the Marion County Drug Court Program.    The charge would have been dismissed with the successful completion of the program.

But instead, Self was sentenced to prison after admitting he failed to abstain from drugs and had tested positive in May.    Other allegations in the petition to revoke that he did not admit include traveling and providing transportation to a known drug abuser on more than one occasion to Missouri to purchase drugs.   Self was also accused in the petition of bringing back drugs to Illinois with the desire to sell them.

In addition to the five years in prison, Self was ordered to complete two years of parole when getting out of jail.  He’ll receive credit for 166 days already served in the Marion County Jail.
