Cuma Lee Piper, 89, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 3:33 am June 14, 2023, at her residence.
She was born May 26, 1934, in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late Charles and Maude (Geyers) Lee. Cuma married James Lee Foster in 1962 and he preceded her in death in November 1982. Cuma later married Thomas Piper on June 1, 1990, in Saint Clair County.
In addition to her beloved husband of thirty-three years, Cuma is survived by her children, Michael Vanderbogart of Virginia, Angie Severs and husband, Roger, Tammie Allemand, Cuma Foster, Jayma Hale all of Mount Vernon, Illinois; step-children, Trent Piper and Tracey Ulrich and husband, Bob both of Kentucky, Tamara Piper of Illinois, and Sean Piper of Mount Vernon, Illinois; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; brothers, Don Lee of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Neal Lee of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Cuma was preceded in death by Father, Charles Lee, Mother, Maude Lee, first husband, James Lee Foster, Son, Steven Allemand, Son, Bobby Vanderbogart, Sister, Fleta Bell Neal, brothers, Sam and Bobby Lee.
Cuma worked for Martin & Bailey as a Personnel Manager for thirty years and five years of Baisch Skinner. She was a district president of Amvets, charted started Jr. Amvets, a lifetime member of Amvets Post #4, past president of Amvets Ladies Auxiliary #3, a lifetime member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary #1376, and a member of American Legion Post #141 Ladies Auxiliary.
