Three people were taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for treatment of minor injuries following a van-pickup truck crash late Wednesday morning in Centralia.

Centralia Police say a van driven by Dominic Figueroa of Bryant Lane in Salem was traveling westbound on Calumet approaching the Lincoln Street intersection when his brakes failed and he collided with a pickup truck driven by 45-year-old Clifford Rowcliff of North Marion in Central City that was in the process of making a left hand turn from eastbound Calumet onto Lincoln Street.

Figueroa escaped injury, but two passengers in his van, 22-year-old Morgan Shanafelt of Fairway Drive in Centralia and 23-year-old Elahana Shanafelt of South Elm in Centralia, were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital.

Rowcliff was also taken to the hospital, but a passenger in his pickup, 36-year-old William Fox of East 8th in Junction City, escaped injury.

Fugueroa was ticketed for disobeying a stop sign.

The crash occurred at 11:17 Wednesday morning.   The Centralia Fire Department and Lifestar Ambulance also responded to the scene.
