By Bruce Kropp Jun 13, 2022 | 11:27 AM

Shane Matthew Campbell, 31, of Hodges, South Carolina, formerly of Centralia passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

He was born on December 27, 1991, the son of David Lee and Angela Kay (Kirkland) Campbell in Centralia.

Survivors that will always remember Shane’s brilliant smile include his parents, David and Angie Campbell of Centralia; his grandmother, Donna Kirkland; uncles, Gerald Campbell, and Daryl (Pam) Campbell; aunts, Sara (Bryan) Mooney, and Kelly Kirkland; several cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Shane was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bob and Faye Campbell; and maternal grandparents, Keith and Margie Kirkland.

Shane was an accomplished athlete from his youth. He was an avid long-distance runner and he loved his Willow Grove Cross Country Team, along with Coach Rowekamp. He possessed mad skills on the basketball court and the baseball field, where he was dedicated to supporting his teammates. Shane had an amazing sense of humor, always providing comic relief and keeping everyone laughing. His laugh alone was infectious, and he never missed an opportunity to share his winning smile to brighten someone’s day. Shane had called South Carolina home for the last 5 years, where he spent time self-reflecting in the beautiful sunshine and working toward bettering himself each day. He will also be remembered for his ability to belt out the lyrics for all the best ’90s pop songs, especially the Banana song, to the enjoyment of anyone who would listen. Shane was a gentle soul who thought of others and tried to make the world a brighter place. He will be deeply missed and his way of bringing laughter will be carried on by all those that knew and loved him.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Seth Baltzell officiating.
