Marion County and South Central Illinois remain at the low community level for COVID-19 cases for the past week.

50 new cases were reported in Marion County with one new hospitalization.  The number of cases increased by 39-percent over the prior week.  Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says the county went another week with no deaths.   The same congregate-care facility remains on outbreak status, which means having two or more related cases.

Clinton County came off the medium community level as their number of new cases fell 15 percent with 58 new cases.  There were three new hospitalizations.

Other area counties all saw an increase in cases.  Wayne County had the most significant jump with 34 new cases, a more than 200-percent increase.  They had no new hospitalizations.   Jefferson County had 52 new cases, a jump of 68-percent, along with one new hospitalization. Washington County reported 17 new or probable cases and one hospitalization.   Fayette County reported 32 new cases and one new hospitalization.   Clay County had 22 new cases and one new hospitalization.

Statewide, 34,001 new cases were reported along with 73 new deaths. A ten percent increase was reported after the Memorial Day Weekend.

32 Illinois Counties are now at the high community level, including five in Southern Illinois.  They include Franklin, Jackson, Williamson, Johnson, and Massac Counties.  The entire Chicago area and Rockford and a big swath of Central Illinois have also moved into the high category.   There are 39 counties at the medium level, including Bond, St. Clair, and Madison Counties in the Metro-East.

As of Thursday night, 1,189 were in the hospital with COVID-19 symptoms.  124 of those patients were in the ICU and 27 patients were on ventilators.
