Dale Keith Reese, 83, of Dix, Illinois, passed away on June 5, 2023, at SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital, in St. Louis, Missouri.
He was born April 10, 1940, in Kinmundy, Illinois, the son of Murrell Clinton Reese and Eva Marie (Outhouse) Reese Lowry. On June 2, 1963, at the First Baptist Church in Salem, he married Sharon Ann Henne, and she survives.
Dale was the owner of D.K. Reese and Associates Insurance, in Dix, Illinois, and served clients’ insurance needs throughout Southern Illinois. He was a member of Orchardville Church, where he served on several committees, and was a Deacon. He was also a member of Gideons International, holding statewide offices. He was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and was a member of American Legion post #141 of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Dale attended Farina Lagrove High School, graduating in 1959, as a star center on the basketball team. Dale loved fishing, working on his farm, and bowling, having won several bowling trophies, awards, and accolades.
In addition to his wife, Sharon Reese of Dix, Illinois, he is survived by two daughters, Toni L.(Reese) Lankford and husband Anthony K. Lankford of Dix, Illinois, and Vicki J. (Reese) Lowry and husband Bruce E. Lowry of Edwardsville, Illinois; three grandchildren, Mallory M. Lankford of Dix, Bruce E. Lowry III of Edwardsville, and Nikolas B. Lowry of Edwardsville; and one brother, Beryl D. Reese of Chatham, Illinois. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Eva Marie (Outhouse) Reese Lowry and Murrell Clinton Reese, both of Kinmundy; and a sister, Joyce Eileen Reese of Kinmundy.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Orchardville Church, 236 County Road 1715 N., Xenia, Illinois, with Rick Hays officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the funeral, at the church. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in Salem, with graveside military rites accorded by American Legion Post #141, of Mt. Vernon.
