Another uptick in vehicle burglaries since the end of last week has resulted in the Centralia Police Department beginning a ‘hire back’ program to begin additional patrols in impacted areas.
Since last Thursday, Centralia Police have reported vehicle breaks in the 500 block of Meadowbrook, Oakdale Drive, 1200 block of East 2nd, and on Arlene Drive.
Acting Chief Steve Whritenour says in all cases the vehicles have been unlocked. However, some vehicles were just gone through with nothing taken.
Anyone seeing suspicious activity is asked to contact Centralia Police, who are also encouraging everyone to lock their doors.
Whritenour says the department is also investigating the theft of a window air conditioner from a home in the 700 blocks of East 11th on Monday. He notes whoever was responsible left the unit only a few feet away from the window but caused damage to both the window and air conditioner.
