Marla Hill, 56, of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
She was born November 17, 1966, in Central City, the daughter of Meryl Black and Mary Alice (Meyer) Black. She married Craig Hill on June 10, 1992, and he survives.
In addition to her husband of 30 years, Craig Hill of Centralia, Marla is also survived by her three sons: Jeff Hill and wife Rachel of Effingham, Brandon Hill and wife Tonia of Centralia, and Shawn Hill and wife Cassie of Centralia; granddaughter: Hazel Hill of Effingham; four sisters: Terry Emery of Knoxville, Tennessee, Sedia Myers of Peoria, Carol Schmidt and husband Stan of Florida, and Brenda Hawkins of Florida; father-in-law: Loren Hill of Centralia; brother-in-law: Curtis Hill and wife Crystal of Centralia; sister-in-law: Becky Gunter and husband Doug of Junction City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Merle and Mary Black, sister: Tina Wright, mother-in-law: Nancy Hill, brother-in-law: Mark Hawkins, and grandparents: Emil and Virginia Hill.
Marla grew up in Central City and she graduated from Centralia High School. She attended and graduated from the CNA Program at Kaskaskia College. Marla worked at St. Mary’s Hospital and also at Heritage Woods. She had a passion for scrapbooking, gardening, and shopping. Marla was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Central City and she enjoyed reading her Bible. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan. Taking a trip out to the lake, a relaxing boat ride, and sticking her toes in the sand at the beach with her family were moments Marla cherished. She loved her family, her two four-legged companions: Marly and Nami, and her friends. She will be missed.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home and also Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
