A 43-year-old rural Odin man has died in a two-vehicle head-on crash on the Selmaville Road southwest of Salem late Saturday night.
Marion County Coroner Troy Cannon identifies the victim as Eric See. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
State Police preliminary investigation indicates a car driven by 18-year-old Audrey Pugh of Centralia was traveling southbound on Selmaville Road when it crossed over into the northbound lane and struck the car driven by See.
See was alone in his vehicle. State Police say there was an adult female passenger and a juvenile female passenger in Pugh’s car.
Pugh and the two passengers in her car were flown in different medical helicopters to St. Louis Hospitals for treatment. The air ambulances landed at the Salem Fire Protection District’s training facility on the Selmaville Road and were transferred from the scene by ambulance to the helicopters.
The crash occurred between Lazy Acre Road and the Crooked Creek Bridge.
Cannon says the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home is assisting the See family with arrangements.
Illinois State Police Patrol and Crash Reconstruction, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Salem and Odin Fire Protection Districts, United Medical Response, and Marion County ESDA all assisted with the incident.
The crash occurred around 11:15 Saturday night.
