The Salem Wildcats are looking for their 3rd regional championship under head coach Brian Lipe as they travel to Vandalia this afternoon to take on the Vandals for the 2a regional title. Both teams advanced Friday after upsets. Salem knocked off Teutopolis 7-6 in a comeback win, while Vandalia dominated top-seed Paris from start to finish in their 9-0 win. The winner will advance to this week’s Teutopolis Sectional.
Also today in games moved from Saturday, Columbia and Althoff play from Marquette, Breese Mater Dei takes on Father McGivney from Central, Anna takes on Hamilton County at Johnston City.
Some games got started Saturday and will finish today. DuQuoin leads Nashville at home 1-0 in the bottom of the first. And in a final, Flora won the Newton Regional over the host Eagles 3-2 in six innings.
The Centralia Orphans open their 3aregional today as they will host Mattoon at 4:30.
