The Marion County Clerk’s office has announced the completion of the semi-annual voter purge ahead of the start of early voting around the state and Marion County on Thursday for the June 28th primary election.
Clerk Steve Fox says all registered voters should now have a new voter registration card delivered by the US Postal Service.
“We have completed the voter purge for this year and didn’t have a whole lot removed which was really good. There were just a few that we had undeliverable back to us from their address, and those people will have to re-register and are suspended right now. Then we always have some that have moved out of county and we track them via the purge and are able to take them off.”
Fox says with the purge complete, there are now 24,392 active voters in Marion County. There were 1.015 voters who were suspended because their voter registration cards came back as undeliverable. There were also 580 voters who were canceled, including 503 who had moved out of the county and 77 who were verified deceased.
Fox says those who still reside at their same address and did not receive a new voter registration card should contact the Marion County Clerk’s office.
Meanwhile, Fox says everything is set for early voting to begin Thursday. It will continue up until the day before the June 28th primary from eight am to four pm any day the courthouse is open.
