The Salem 2a softball regional opens up today at Tully Park. Top seed Gillespie will take on Flora at 4:30 with the winner getting into the title game against tomorrow’s winner of Salem and Robinson.
Also today, at Marquette it’s Freeburg taking on Piasa followed by Columbia and Marquette. Breese Mater Dei takes on Wesclin at Breese Central, Harrisburg is the site for Mt Carmel and Hamilton County. At Johnston City it will be Carterville and Anna; Zeigler takes on West Frankfort at Pinckneyville, St Anthony takes on Marshall at St Joseph Ogden followed by Paris and the hosts. At Tolono it’s the hosts and Sullivan followed TTown and Westville. Vandalia will host Newton.
In 2a regional quarterfinals yesterday, Anna beat Vienna 9-6, Flora 5-4 winners over Lawrenceville, Hamilton County over Fairfield 10-0, Pana beat Bismarck 9-3, Piasa eliminated Wood River 8-7, TTown over Shelbyville 9-2, Wesclin 20-0 winners over Althoff and Vandalia beat Hillsboro 11-3.
In 1a regional quarterfinals last night, St Elmo lost to CHBC 14-5, Webber over Wayne City 16-7, Gibault 4-3 over Dupo in 8 innings, Neoga over Okaw Valley 9-8, New Athens beat Ramsey 12-7.
Today in 1a regional semifinals at Christ Our Rock, Carlyle will take on New Athens; At Dupo Marissa plays Gibault followed by Odin/Patoka/Sandoval playing Valmeyer at 6:30. At South Central, the games have been moved up due to the forecasted weather late tonight and tomorrow. South Central hosts Beecher City at 3:30 followed by Altamont and Clay City at 5:30 at Webster Field. At Oblong, it’s Windsor against the hosts followed by Hutsonville and Dieterich. Cumberland is the site for Casey Westfield and Neoga.
