A home in Ina was destroyed by fire Tuesday morning.
Jefferson County Fire District firemen say fire was shooting from the roof and three sides upon their arrival.
The only occupant, Daniel Montgomery, was out of the home on their arrival. He sustained minor smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene. A dog perished in the fire. The Red Cross was called in to assist.
The State Fire Marshal’s office has been called in to try and determine the cause of the fire.
The home is owned by Heather Montgomery.
Jefferson Fire District called Benton, Mt. Vernon City, Bluford, and Waltonville to the scene for mutual aid while Kell and Wayne City firemen stood by at the Jefferson County Fire District Station in the event of another fire.
The fire call came in at 5:45 Tuesday morning and was brought under control in around 45 minutes.
