2023 05/13 – Nita Marie Mobley

Nita Marie Mobley, 66, of Salem, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023, in Salem, Illinois.

She was born February 20, 1957, in Flora, the daughter of Edwin Gail Stanford and Edith ‘Maxine’ (Shields) Stanford. She married Michael Lee Mobley on July 21, 2012, in Flora, IL and he survives in Salem.

Funeral Services for Nita Mobley will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Grace United Methodist Church in Salem. Friends may call Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the church. A Private Family Burial will be held at a later date at Mount Zion’s Foster Hill Cemetery in Clay City. There will be a Law Enforcement – First Responders Walk Thru at 11:00 am prior to the public visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Donor’s Choice and will be accepted by the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home at 310 North Broadway, P.O. In addition to her mother: Maxine Fildes of Flora, her husband: Michael Mobley of Salem, she is also survived by her two children: Lucas Mobley and wife Meggie of Webster Groves, Missouri, and Andrea Baker and husband Steve of Salem; two grandchildren: Eli and Ross Baker; her brother: Steve Wiley and wife Glenda of Clay City; one sister: Nancy Pearce of Flora; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father: Edwin Stanford, brother: David Wiley, and a brother-in-law: Gary Pearce.

Nita retired from the Salem Post Office with 35 years of service. She taught Karate for 35 years, she enjoyed teaching the younger students, and she was also an 8th Degree Black Belt. Nita dearly loved her family and her church. She loved her animal friends and especially her cats: Little Joe and Hoss. Her family will remember her as being genuine, trusting, and interested in helping others.
