Police Beat for Saturday, May 7th, 2022

Centralia Police arrested a 35-year-old Odin woman for residential burglary and criminal damage to property on Friday.   Laura Spitler was taken to the Marion County Jail where she is also being held on outstanding Clinton and Jefferson County felony failure to appear warrants.

Centralia Police arrested 42-year-old Jarcus Croft of North Elm in Centralia for criminal damage to property.   He was also taken to the Marion County Jail.

Salem Police arrested 33-year-old Jerrad Simpson of North Pearl in Salem for alleged domestic battery following an incident around 7:30 Friday morning in the 300 block of North Pearl.  Simpson is accused of battery to a female victim who received minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.  Simpson was gone at the time police arrived, but they located him at a residence in the 300 block of North College Street where he was taken into custody.   Simpson remained in the Marion County Jail on Saturday.

Salem Police arrested 28-year-old Austin Hawley of Kirby Road in Iuka on an outstanding Effingham County warrant.  Police say Hawley was taken into custody during a domestic dispute in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Salem Police Station.   He later was given a notice to appear and released from the Marion County Jail.

22-year-old Brandon Bierman of South Oak in Sandoval was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on an outstanding Marion County felony failure to appear warrant.   Bond is set at $20,000.

61-year-old John Treese of Cross Road in Salem was arrested by sheriff’s deputies for driving on a suspended license and driving on a revoked license.  He was given a notice to appear in court.
