Anthony Buonaura hit a solo home run and Spencer Johannes drove in 3 runs as South Central shutout Salem 4-0.
Aidan Dodson was the winning pitcher for the defending 1a state champs as the right-hander went 5.2 allowing 1 hit and struck out 14. Anthony Buonaura came in to get the save as he went 1.1 allowing 2 hits and 2 strikeouts.
Brody Markley, Ethan Watwood, Andrew Magnus all added hits.
For the Cats, Charlie Hunter had 2 of their 3 hits with Isaak Williams getting the other. Salem had their chances loading the bases in the 5th and 6th innings and also had base runners in the 7th as well.
The Salem JV played 4 innings after the varsity game and ended with an 11-2 win. Ayden Rose double, tripled and drove in a run while scoring twice, Cooper Lobek and Ryan Detering added 2 RBI each with RBI also from Jalen Inlow, Noah Nix, Colton Shelton, Colten Starnes. Keaton Gullion scored a run. Noah Nix went 3 innings allowing 1 hit and struck out 4. Shelton worked the final inning.
The Wildcats return to conference play today as they host Roxana. The JV will play at home at the Little League Complex. South Central will continue their season long road trip at Newton today.
Christ Our Rock fell to Waltonville 2-1 when Hammond hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 7th. Christ Our Rock got 2 hits and a run from Lendon Isaiah, Brayden Such drove in a run with Colton Oelze and Myles Pryor adding hits Parker Boehne was the losing pitcher going 6.1 allowing 3 hits and 2 earned runs.
