A large garage at 335 North Walnut in Centralia was fully engulfed in flames when Centralia City Firefighters arrived on the scene Saturday afternoon.
Firemen say the garage was full of a large number of miscellaneous items which would also be a total loss. They were able to stop the fire from spreading to a neighboring occupied home eight to ten feet away.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The garage that was scheduled to be torn down is believed to be owned by Donald Graham of Mt. Vernon.
All available Centralia City Firemen were called to the scene along with the Centralia Fire Protection District. The Sandoval Fire Protection District stood by at the Centralia Fire Station in the event of another fire.
The fire call came in at 1:45 Saturday afternoon. Firemen were on the scene for about two hours.
