The Salem Lady Cats earned a hard fought 5-4 walk-off win over visiting South Central in softball action.
Lilly Blagoue was the winning pitcher with work also from Bre Thurman and Makenna Smith. Blagoue also had a hit and scored 2 runs, Miranda Podergois went 2-4 with 3 RBI including the walk-off game winner. Smith also robbed a 3-run homer on defense. Olivia Paulson also drove in a Salem run.
For the Lady Cougars, Taegan Webster hit a pair of home runs as part of her 3-hit day. Brooklyn Garrett also drove in a run.
The Lady Cougars are 14-8 and will play Dieterich in the NTC Quarterfinal on Monday in Effingham. Salem will host Wood River and Roxana on Tuesday and Thursday.
