Wildcats Beat OPS, Host Defending Champ Freeburg Today……SC Falls To Effingham

The Wildcats return to Conference play today at home against defending 2a state champion Freeburg.

The Cats will enter at 9-16 after yesterday’s win at Odin/Patoka/Sandoval 10-4.  The Cats jumped out to a 7-0 lead after an inning and a half and didn’t look back as they pounded out 16-hits.

Griffin Day had 2 hits including a double and drove in 4 runs.  Hunter Daniels homered, Aden Susmena went 3-4 with an RBI and 2 runs, Charlie Hunter had 3 hits and 2 RBI while Gavin Zimmerann drove in a run along with Isaak Williams.

Tyler Tanner pitched all 7 innings allowing 3 hits and 2 earned runs with 4 strikeouts.  Entering the 7th inning, Tanner had used only 57 pitches as he finished the game throwing 82.


SC scored 4 times in the opening inning at Effingham, but the Hearts answered with 5 of their own in the 3rd and held on to beat the Cougars 8-5.  In the loss, Beau Jolliff homered and drove in 2, Aidan Dodson went 2-3 with 2 RBI.  Anthony Buonaura doubled and scored and Chase Thompson scored 2 runs.  Ethan Watwood took the loss for the Cougars going 4 innings allowing 5 hits and 8 runs, 7 earned.  Spencer Johannes didn’t allow a hit in 2 innings of relief.
