Almost 3 years ago, Windsor/Stew Stras sophomore Colin Kinkelaar was in a very serious car accident that left him in a coma for 5 days and a partially amputated right leg. After a long and hard road, Colin made his return to the sport he loves yesterday as the Hatchets took on St Anthony.
The senior made his triumphant return in front of a huge crowd of supporters on both sides. His at-bat yielded a 5-pitch walk.
After trotting to first base, the moment was made even more special when his first base coach & dad Jeremy Kinkelaar was waiting at the base with a huge hug before Colin was replaced by a pinch runner.
The game was won by the Bulldogs 5-2 but that was far from the story in this one.
