A fire destroyed a detached garage at the Ben Lyons home at 3283 Farthing Road in rural Odin early last night. A passing member of the Odin Fire Department who discovered the fire was able to pull out a vehicle inside with the help of the owner to prevent it from being consumed by the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently listed as undetermined.
Odin Fire Lieutenant Curtis Parish says the back of the 30 by 40-foot garage was in flames when he spotted the fire.
The car was pulled out the front by the back bumper to prevent it from catching on fire.
Odin Firemen got a quick knockdown and Salem Firemen who were initially called on automatic mutual aid stood by at the Odin Station in the event of another fire.
The fire call came in at 6:57 Wednesday night. Firemen were on the scene for about 45 minutes.
