A 32-year-old Kinmundy woman has entered an open guilty plea to Class X felony charges of predatory criminal sexual assault and child pornography.
Vickie Odem of Wilcoxen Road admitted to committing a sex act with a child under 13 and having a video recording of the incident. Odem will be sentenced on June 28th and faces between six and 60 years in prison on a predatory criminal sexual assault charge.
One other county of predatory criminal sexual assault and three other counts of child pornography were dropped as part of the plea.
The investigation began in October 2020 when the sheriff’s department was given information about the pornographic videos. Sheriff’s investigators determined the video included a sexual assault on a person Odem knew to be under the age of six. The charges indicate the sex assault occurred in July or August and the child pornography offenses between August and October.
The investigation included the issuance of several search warrants to recover digital evidence.
