Flames were shooting from a detached garage at 1105 East 2nd when it was found on fire early Monday morning.

Centralia City Firefighters say the garage occupied by Benjamin Lee and owned by Glenda Bates was a total loss along with a 1998 Dodge Caravan and 2018 Dodge Caravan parked in front of the building. The fire was so hot it burned or melted the siding on a garage and outbuilding next door at 1107 East Second occupied by Bates. One of the destroyed vehicles was owned by Lee and the other by Bates.

Firemen say the fire damage was so severe to the garage it could not be determined how the fire started. The Centralia 911 dispatch center received a dozen calls
about the fire just after one Monday morning. All available Centralia City Firemen were called to the scene. They remained on the scene until 2:45 Monday morning.

There were no injuries reported.
