Centralia Police have released details on a two vehicle head on crash on the 1300 block of East Calumet Street Friday morning.
Police Chief Greg Dodson says 40-year-old Chad Boyce of South Johnson in Centralia indicated he fell asleep while traveling westbound on Calumet Street and drifted into the westbound lane where he hit a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Erin Witzel of Orchard Drive in Centralia head on.
Centralia Fire Department had to extricate Boyce from his vehicle.
He was transferred to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital along with Witzel and a nine-year-old boy who was a passenger in her car.
Dodson says all three were later transferred to St. Louis Hospitals for treatment.
Boyce has been ticketed for driving on a suspended or revoked license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The crash was reported at 7:59 Friday morning.
