The SC 13u Storm Chasers won their 2nd straight GMB Tournament, winning the Marion Tournament yesterday winning 3 games in the process.
In the championship, SC ran out to a 6-0 lead after 4.5 innings, but Bomb’s Away would score 5 in the bottom of the 6th to take an 8-6 lead. SC bounced back with 4 in the top of the 7th only to see the game get tied in the bottom of the 7th which set up the international tie breaker for extra innings. SC scored 2 runs in the eighth. Avery Gullion then came in with 1 out and the tying and winning runs at 2nd and 3rd and needed just 3 pitches to get the 3 and 4 hitters and earn the save and the gold rings for SC. The Storm Chasers had a GREAT day at the plate with Trent Ingram driving in 3 runs, Avery Gullion had 2 RBI with runs driven in also by Austin Grieve, Payton Gullion, Kaiden Harrell. Ingram had the huge hit late to give SC a lead they would not give back.
It was an all around team win for SC. Austin Grieve had 2 hits, 2 runs and a RBI, Luke Shumate a hit and run scored, Payton Gullion scored and drove in a run, Ingram had 2 hits and 3 RBI, Avery Gullion had 2 hits, 2 RBI and a run, Garret Shumate drove in a run and scored twice, Hayden Prather 2 hits and 3 runs, Kaiden Harrell had a hit and a run, Sebastian Kruger also scored a run.
SC won their semifinal game 13-5 over the Dirtbags scoring 7 times in the opening inning and 5 more times in the 5th to outhit the Dirtbags 15-9. Boston Isaacs drove in 4 runs for SC with 2 each from Ingram, Harrell and Kruger. Also adding RBI for SC were Grieve, Payton and Avery Gullion with 2 runs from Prather and Garret Shumate. Carter Spitzner added a hit and Luke Shumate was hit by a pitch. Isaacs got the complete game win on the mound allowing just 4 earned and striking out 6.
Sunday began for SC with a 10-9 walk-off win over the SI Prospects. SC trailed 9-8 in the final inning before coming back to earn the win. Prather drove in 3 runs for SC with RBI also from Grieve, Payton and Avery Gullion, Luke Shumate, Harrell, Ingram. Garret Shumate had 2 hits and 2 runs, Kruger also scored 2 runs. Prather worked the first 4 innings before giving way to Avery Gullion who tossed the final 2 innings for the win.
