The Franklin Park Track Team hosted the 8-team Terry Heern Invitational at SCHS yesterday. Salem had a great day with 52 Personal Records set on the day along with meet records and a school record as well.
The Bobcat boys won their event with 173 points scoring in every single event, followed by Olney with 91 and Centralia 80. Morgan Mickens won the discus, Ryegan Warren and Avery Gullion were 1st and 3rd in the high jump, Robby Shober won the mile, Alex Spencer the 800 and Trey Clark broke Caden Bee’s 7th grade 100m record of 11.94 when he ran 11.85 to win the race.
Noah Tim was 2nd in the shot, Holden Richardson in the pole vault, Alex Spencer runner up in the mile, Kyler King in the 100, Angel Salgado in the 200, Payton Gullion and Hunter Malan tied for 3rd in the 400m race finishing at 60.3 which would have been a meet record if not for the 2 that finished ahead of them. Also 2nd were the 7th grade 4×200 team of Payton and Avery Gullion, Trey Clark and Madden Thompson. Also 2nd the varsity 4×400 team of Payton and Avery Gullion, Malan and Caleb Purintun. Also the 6th grade 4×100 team of Keele, Smythe, Purcelli and King.
The Salem Girls won their event with 140 points followed by O’Fallon Carriel with 92 and Mascoutah 90. Hannah Smith won the discus, Finley Purcelli the high jump, Ruthie Hays the pole vault and Maddie Dulaney the 6th grade 100.
Finishing 2nd were Marah Johnson in the shot, Kinsey Jarrett in the long jump, Aubrey Bandy in the Pole Vault and the 4×100 team of Purcelli, Brylee Pennypacker, Addi Bullard and Jarrett.
