The Salem boys hosted the Salem Frosh Relays yesterday at Jim Finks Field. Marion won the event with 68.5 points nipping Salem at 65.5 with Centralia 64 and Mt Vernon 49.
Caleb Smith won the shot put in a PR of 54-feet, 7.5-inches which also places him 4th in the nation on those recording their distances this season. Frank Podergois PR’s 34-feet, 5.25-inches was good for 4th. Smith also won the discus in 143-feet 7-inches with Kannon King 3rd.
Sean Thorton and Miking Ettress went 1-2 in the Long Jump with Connor Tennyson winning the triple. Kam’Ron Hilton tied for 2nd in the high jump while Ettress was 4th. Thorton won the 100 with Ettress 5th. Hayden Hopkins was 3rd in the 200, Thorton won the 400, Caidien Beer was 3rd in the 800 and 4th in the 1600.
The 4×200 team of Hopkins, Keaton Gullion, Jack and Tennyson was 2nd along with the 4×800 team of Salgado, Beer, Lang and Purcell. The team of Ettress, Beer, Gullion and Purcell were 3rd in the 4×400.
