The SC Cougars improved to 10-4 over the weekend in winning two baseball games on Saturday at the Wooden Bat Tournament in Flora and taking home the championship in a 3-way tie.

SC opened Saturday with a 16-0 destruction of Woodlawn.  Beau Jolliff was the winning pitcher going 3 innings allowing 2 hits.  Dodson and Brandt Hiestand drove in 3 runs each with 2 from Andrew Magnus and RBI also from Buonaura, Jolliff and Johannes.

The Cougars closed down their tournament stay with a nail biting 3-2 walk-off win over North Clay on an Aidan Dodson single.  SC opened up with a 2-0 lead after the 2nd inning, but North Clay tied the game with single tallies in the sixth and seventh setting up the Cougars for the dramatic finish.  Brody Markley also drove in a run.  Anthony Buonaura was really good going 6.1 allowing 5 hits and 2 runs, but none were earned with 9 strikeouts.  Spencer Johannes came in and got the final 2 outs for the save.

SC, North Clay and Flora each finished with identical 2-1 records, with SC allowing the fewest amount of runs in taking the title followed by the Cardinals and then the Wolves.  The Cardinals beat Flora 8-4 in 8 innings to close down the tournament.  North Clay falls to 15-2 on the year and will host Fairfield today.
