Wamac Mayor Butch Mathis estimated the turnout for the Centralia area Easter Egg Hunt at the Wamac Park Sunday afternoon at 650 kids, which he called super fantastic.  He noted the crowd was similar to pre-pandemic years and many indicated they were happy to see the in-person hunts return.

Mathis says they gave away 67 bicycles, 84 Easter Baskets, and a number of other special prizes in addition to every kid getting a goodie bag of items.
