The SC Cougars dropped their Wood Bat Tournament opener at Flora to the host Wolves 4-3. Flora jumped on top first with 2 runs in the bottom of the fourth only to see SC answer with 2 of their own in the 5th. Flora answer with 2 more in the sixth and SC could only plate 1 in their final at bat.
At the plate, Andrew Magnus doubled twice and finished 2-3. Anthony Buonaura went 2-3 and drove in a run, Aidan Dodson also had an RBI. Chase Thompson had a single and scored as did Brandt Hiestand. Spencer Johannes scored the other SC run.
Ethan Watwood was the starter going 4.1 allowing 5 hits and 2 earned runs. Johannes took the loss in 1.2 allowing 2 hits and 2 runs.
SC will continue tournament play today against Woodlawn at 12 and North Clay at 2.
North Clay on their Wood Bat Tournament opener dominating Woodlawn 21-1 to improve to 14-1 on the season. The Cardinals and South Central will play at 2pm with Flora and NC at 4pm to finish up the tournament.
The first game of today will be at 10am featuring Flora and Woodlawn.
