The Salem Wildcats traveled to Mascoutah for the Military Classic Track & Field Invitational.
The Cats finished 9th in the 17 team meet with 38 points. The meet was won by Mt. Vernon with Edwardsville and O’Fallon in 2nd and 3rd.
Caleb Smith continues to lead the way taking first in the shot put and second in the discus. Teammate Cole Johnson was 3rd in the discus with a throw of 140′ behind Smith’s 145’9″ toss.
The Cats continue to shine in the field events with a 2nd place finish from Ethan Pride with a clear of 6’0 in the high jump. Alek Bandy was 6th in the pole vault clearing 11’6″.
The 4×100 relay team of Brayden Smith, Kam King, Miking Ettress, and Sean Thorton was 8th in a time of 47.19. The f/s 4×400 relay team was the other point scorer for the Cats, with a 7th place finish, that team was composed of Keaton Gullion, Branson Pappas, Caidien Beer, and Sean Thorton.
