The Salem Community High School Green Team will once again celebrate Earth Day this year with a recycling drive for no longer wanted electronic devices.
Green Team Co-Sponsor Drew Johnson says the drive is set from eight to noon on Friday, April 22nd, in the rear drive near the Ag Building. He’s once again expecting a large turnout.
Students will be ready to assist with unloading items.
In general, any item with a cord can be brought to the recycling drive. However, there are a few things they can’t take including TVs or older CRT computer monitors that are not flat screen. Smoke alarms and thermostats also contain materials that don’t allow for recycling and can’t be accepted. You should not pack multiple items in a box.
Several other non-electronic items will also be accepted, including used ink printer cartridges and consumer batteries, such as A, AA, AAA, and nine-volt.
Johnson reminds everyone this drive is held only one day a year and items can only be accepted from eight am to noon on Friday, April 22nd.
