The Salem Planning Commission will consider a special use permit for a cannabis craft grow facility in the Westside Industrial Park during a public hearing Tuesday night.
Due to the amount of interest, the public hearing has been moved to the cafeteria of the Salem Community Activities Center at 416 Oglesby. The hearing will begin at six pm.
Matthew Lowery, doing business as Hometown Heroes LLC, is seeking the permit for land at 11 Carpenter Drive west of the city’s spec building on South Hotze Road. The location and special use permit have to be in place for the State of Illinois to consider the location for one of the available cannabis craft grow facilities.
The decision of the planning commission is not final. Their recommendation will go to the city council for a final decision on the special use permit. That vote is expected to come at the April 18th Salem City Council meeting.
