The Salem Wildcats fell to 2-6 overall and dropped their Cahokia Conference opener falling at Breese Central 14-4. Central scored in every inning and the Cats committed 6 errors that led to 10 unearned runs. Griffin Day and Aden Susmena homered in the loss with Susmena adding a double. Gavin Zimmerman pitched well and deserved better going 5 innings scattering 10 hits allowing 8 runs but just 3 earned. Tyler Tanner and Brogan Gregg finished the game for Salem. The Cats are off until tomorrow when they host Columbia.
The Central JV beat Salem at SCHS Field 11-0 as the Cats were no-hit on the afternoon. In fact the only base runner Salem had was when Cooper Lobek was hit by a pitch. The JV Cats committed 6 errors that led to 9 unearned runs. Noah Nix got the start going 2 innings allowing 2 hits and 6 runs but none of them were earned. Ayden Rose and Lobek worked the final 3 innings.
The SC Cougars beat Mulberry Grove 12-1 in six innings scoring 6 in the first and 6 more in the final two innings. Aidan Dodson homered with doubles from Anthony Buonaura, Spencer Johannes and Beau Jolliff. Ethan Dunn went 2-2 with 3 RBI on the day and also got the win allowing 3 hits in 4 innings with 9 strikeouts and no walks. Johannes drove in 2 with RBI also from Brandt Hiestand, Jon Bursott, Buonaura, Joliff and Dodson.
Christ Our Rock fell to Altamont 6-2. In the loss, Jayden Bazile and Brayden Such had hits and an RBI from Blake Kliebocker.
North Clay is 7-1 after a 24-3 rout of Dieterich in five innings. They will host Carmi tomorrow.
CHBC beat Odin 5-2. For Odin, Timmons had a single and 2 RBI, Haines doubled with singles from Calhoun, Parrish and Belcher.
