City of Salem announces water treatment change

By WJBD Staff Mar 29, 2022 | 11:27 AM

The City of Salem Water Treatment Plant utilizes free chlorine as part of its normal and routine disinfection process for drinking water.  From time to time, generally on an annual basis, modifications of the City’s disinfection process are necessary for proper system maintenance.

Beginning April 4th, the chlorine feed will be modified for a period of about four (4) weeks.  During this period, customers may notice a slight odor of chlorine, but the water will be perfectly safe for consumption and normal usage.

If you have any questions, please contact the Salem Water Treatment Plant at 548-7788.
